Cable Connection Guide

Utilizing the cable components outlined above, the Billfold Operations department recommends the following electrical component set-up for devices to optimize performance and battery life depending of the device utilization.

Device w/ Credit Card Reader & RFID Reader Enabled on Direct Power

Standard power and cable setup for devices connected directly to a power source.

Wiring set up includes: a right angle adapter, a USB-C Splitter, USB-A Splitter, USB-A to USB-B Cable (for the RFID reader) and an Up Angle USB-C to USB-A cable (for the Credit Card reader) with data blocker

This schema has the right angle adapter plugged into the tablet’s USB-C port, the USB-C splitter is then connected to the adapter with the USB-A splitter plugged into the female USB-A port on the connected splitter. This allows the USB-A to USB-B cable for the RFID reader and the USB-A to USB-C cable for the Credit Card reader to receive power from the tablet and allows the RFID reader to communicate necessary data. The credit card reader cable will have a data blocker added to its USB-A side prior to connecting to the splitter to prevent unnecessary data communication attempts. The remaining female USB-C port will be used for a standard charging cable and power source to provide consistent charge to the device.

Device w/ Credit Card Reader & RFID Reader Enabled on Battery Power

Standard power and cable setup for devices on battery packs.

Wiring set up includes: a right angle adapter, a USB-C to USB-C power cable, a USB-C Splitter, an Up Angle USB-C to USB-A cable (for the Credit Card reader), USB-A to USB-B Cable (for the RFID reader) and a battery pack (minimum recommendation is 20kmAh capacity)

This schema has the right angle adapter plugged into the tablet’s USB-C port and the USB-C splitter connected to the adapter. The USB-C to USB-C power cable is then connected to the USB-C female power port and the battery pack to maintain the tablet’s charge and the USB-A to USB-B RFID cable is plugged into the female USB-A port of the splitter to allow power and data communication. The USB-C to USB-A cable is plugged directly into the battery pack to maintain the card reader’s charge.

Device w/ Credit Card Reader ONLY Enabled on Direct Power

Utilized primarily for devices operating the POS application with only credit card payments enabled.

Wiring set up includes: a right angle adapter, a USB-C Splitter and an Up Angle USB-C to USB-A cable (for the Credit Card reader) with data blocker.

This schema has the right angle adapter plugged into the tablet’s USB-C port, the USB-C splitter is then plugged into the adapter which allows the USB-C to USB-A cable to plug into the tablet to maintain the credit card readers charge and a wall powered charger to be plugged into the female USB-C power port. The credit card reader cable will have a data blocker added to its USB-A side prior to connecting to the splitter to prevent unnecessary data communication attempts.

Connecting Monitor via Bluetooth

Devices that are operating as a Dual Screen POS (DS) need to be paired to one another via bluetooth connection in the device settings in order for the POS operating applications to interface. See steps below for how to bluetooth pair the devices.

The range for bluetooth connection between the devices is minimal (<5ft) the devices base tablets are codependent lovers. Try to keep them close, and they’ll be happy.

Step 1.
Go to the ”About Tablet” section of the device. Verify/change the name of the devices.

Device General Care Tips

Overheating: Devices can overheat if kept in direct sunlight for too long and should be kept in the shade whenever possible.

If the device does overheat, the notification shown below will appear. Move the device to a shaded area to cool down before resuming operations.

Screenshot 2024-12-06 at 7.22.25 PM.png

Water Damage: Devices are water resistant, not water proof. In the case of inclement weather, devices should be covered and kept out of any direct water downfall.

The device will prompt a notification that water has been detected if any internal components are at risk. Move the device to a dry place and monitor. If the device has been water logged (deemed inoperable due to water damage) contact the Billfold team to discuss exchange and service options.

Screen Sensitivity: It is advised to wipe down the device screen after all operations. If the device screen is in the way of drinks and alcohol, residue on the screen will affect touch sensitivity performance

Device Reboot: If the device is suddenly not operating as expected a device reboot is advised by holding the power button and tapping the “reset” prompt on the screen two times.

RIGHT ANGLE ADAPTER (18).png

Tap the reset button and then tap again to confirm device reboot

RIGHT ANGLE ADAPTER (19).png

Reader Reboot (Power Surge Reset): If a payment accessory is not operating as expected, for example the RFID scanner is beeping but not giving any scanning output, reset the data and power connection to these components to reboot them

  • Unplug the USBC charging cable from the USBC Y splitter cable, wait for the beep feedback from the RFID scanner, then plug the USBC charging cable back in. There should be another beep from the RFID scanner upon plugging back in indicating a successful power surge reboot. See component references above if necessary.
