Dashboard: Adding and Changing Discounts

Employees of your choosing can apply discounts and promos once they are configured.

Updated over 2 months ago

Whether it’s a staff discount, artist rider, drink tickets, or meal vouchers, Billfold accommodates this functionality across all your revenue centers. It’s configured on your dashboard, and it’s up to you who can apply them.

Configuring Discounts on the Dashboard

The Discounts tab allows the creation of set discounts that staff can apply at checkout. When creating a new discount, choose between a percentage discount and a monetary amount.

  • On the dashboard, in the event, click on the Discounts tab.

  • Click New Discount on the right.

  • Give the discount a title, an amount, and a type, whether it be percentage or currency.

  • Choose if you want a manager to approve the discount by clicking the box.

  • Click Create Discount, and it will then populate the Discounts tab.

The following screenshots demonstrate a percentage discount, a money discount used for vouchers, and what it looks like on the Discount tab once created.

NOTE: Once a discount has been created, it will be available in all revenue centers and retain the settings from the dashboard.

To Change a Discount

Next to any discount in the Discount tab, there is an “Edit” button. Click the button to change any of the details of the discount.

On the Point of Sale

Applying discounts to appropriate sales couldn’t be easier. Apply the discount at checkout, and you are good to go.

  • Press buttons to add items to the cart.

  • At the bottom of the screen, tap Checkout.

  • You will be presented with three options: Clear, Discount, and Checkout. Select Discount.

  • On the next screen, you will be presented with the discount options programmed in the dashboard. Select the appropriate option.

  • If manager approval is required, the system will prompt the user to input a PIN to confirm the discount.

  • Once approved, checkout as usual.

Related Questions

Are discounts and promos the same thing?
They are very different. Discounts are programmed into the POS to be applied by employees. Promotional funds are added to wristband UIDs.

Can vouchers be assigned to wristbands?
Promo cash can be put on wristbands, but vouchers such as meal or drink tickets can be programmed into the system as discounts.

Are discounts created on the POS or the dashboard?
Discounts are programmed exclusively on the dashboard in the Discounts tab in any event.

Can discounts assigned to some revenue centers and not others?
Once discounts are enabled, they appear as an option on all revenues in an event.

Can any employee offer discounts?
It depends on what you want. Check the “Requires manager confirmation” box for a particular discount if you would rather cashiers get approval before applying it.

Can discounts be deleted from the system?
If a discount has not been used, it can be deleted. Once applied to a transaction, the discount will remain in the system for reporting purposes. If you no longer wish to use the discount, update the settings and require manager approval. When a new event is created, the discount can be deleted before it is applied to a transaction.
