BIN-Based Reward Rules
Reward Rules allow you to offer automatic discounts to customers based on the card they use. The system identifies the cardโs BIN (the first 6โ8 digits) during a transaction and applies a pre-configured discount if a match is found.
How It Works
A transaction is initiated in the Bartender App.
Once the card is dipped or tapped, the app retrieves the BIN from the payment gateway.
The system checks the BIN against your active Reward Rules.
If a match occurs, the discount is automatically applied to the order.
A custom success message or image appears on the screen for the customer.
Permission Requirement: To manage these settings, your user Role must have Reward Rules Management and Reward Rule / Create permissions enabled in the Dashboard. If this is not enabled, please reach out to your Client Success Manager or Billfold Support.
1. Create a Reward Discount
Before setting up a rule, you must create the specific discount it will trigger.
Navigate to the Discounts section of your Event.
Click New Discount.
Fill in the name and discount value (percentage or fixed).
Select the Reward Discount checkbox.
Note: Reward discounts are not visible in the app menu and cannot be edited after creation. They are only triggered by BIN matches.
Click Save.
2. Configure Reward Rules
Once your discount is ready, link it to specific card BINs.
On the Event Page, navigate to the Reward Rules section.
โClick New Reward Rule.
Name: Enter a unique name for internal tracking.
BINs: Enter the eligible 6โ8 digit numbers.
Use a comma or Enter to separate individual BINs.
Use a hyphen to specify a range (e.g.,
400000-400099).
Reward Discount: Select the discount you created in Step 1.
Reward Text/Image (Optional): Enter the text or upload an image you want the customer to see on the "Success Screen" after the reward is applied.
Click Save.
3. Bartender App Experience
Reward Rules in Active status apply automatically across all revenue centers within the event. No manual selection by the bartender is required.
Automatic Application: The discount is deducted from the total immediately after the card is read.
Customer Facing: If using a dual-screen setup, the Reward Image and Reward Text will display on the customer-side screen upon successful payment.
