Wristband Benefits allow event organizers to grant complimentary item discounts directly to guests via their RFID wristbands. Benefits are created as reusable templates and issued to individual wristbands. When scanned at the point of sale, eligible cart items are automatically discounted until the benefit balance is used.
Prerequisites
Software: Bartender App version 3.11.21 or higher.
Account Setup: The Enable Benefits feature flag must be activated for your account by a Billfold Admin before creating benefits.
Note: The current version of Wristband Benefits supports 100% item discounts only. [August 2026]
1. Creating a Benefit Template
Benefits are configured in the Dashboard at the Organizer level.
Navigate to the Benefits section.
Click New Benefit under the Actions menu.
Configure the benefit fields:
Name: The internal title used for tracking in the Dashboard.
Display Name: The customer-facing name displayed on terminal screens in the Bartender app.
Effect Type: Select Order item discount (100% discount).
Items: Select the catalog items eligible for this benefit.
Initial Quantity: Enter the total number of item units a guest can redeem per issued benefit.
Click Create.
Benefit Statuses
Active: Available to be selected when issuing benefits to guest wristbands.
Archived: Hidden from future wristband assignments. Existing benefits already issued to guest wristbands remain active and valid until consumed or cancelled.
2. Issuing Benefits to Wristbands
Benefits can be issued to a single wristband or applied to thousands of wristbands at once during a CSV import.
Method A: Issue to a Single Wristband
Navigate to Event > Wristbands.
Locate the target wristband and open its Actions menu (or open the Wristband detail view page).
Select Issue Benefits.
In the Select Benefits field, choose one or more active benefits.
Click Issue Benefits.
Note: You can issue the same Benefit to a wristband multiple times. Each assignment creates a separate issued benefit record with its own quantity tracking.
Method B: Issue During Bulk Wristband Import
Navigate to Event > Wristbands.
Click Import Wristbands under Actions.
Upload your wristband CSV import file.
In the Benefits to Issue field, select the target active benefits.
(Optional) Check the Cancel existing issued benefits box if you want to revoke prior wristband benefits before applying the new ones.
Click Import.
3. Managing Issued Benefits
You can view and track all active benefits assigned to a guest by opening the Issued Benefits tab on any individual Wristband page.

4. POS Redemption in the Bartender App
Bartender automatically handles benefit redemption without requiring cashiers to manually select discounts.
Redemption Process
Add the guest's items to the cart in the Bartender app.
Open the order header Actions menu and select Scan Wristband.
Tap the guest's wristband on the RFID reader.
The system automatically identifies active issued benefits and applies 100% discounts to all eligible items in the cart.
Quantity Redemption Logic

Item Modifiers
Benefits only cover the base price of an item. Modifiers and add-ons are never covered by benefit discounts and will be charged at standard price.
Example: A
$14.00Cocktail with a$4.00Extra Shot modifier will discount the cocktail base price to$0.00, leaving a final line total of$4.00.
5. Refunds & Reversals
Full Refunds: Performing a full order refund automatically restores any consumed Benefit quantity back to the guest's wristband.
Partial Refunds: Partial order refunds do not restore Benefit quantities in the current version.
